High school scoreboard: Durden wins No. 500

Buford girls basketball head coach Gene Durden celebrated his 500th career win as Class AA’s top-ranked Lady Wolves defeated Blessed Trinity 68-38 on Tuesday in Buford.

Blanche Alverson scored 20 points and Alysha Rudnik added 14 points for Buford, (19-1, 10-0 Region 6-AA) who have won 18 straight games.

Buford visits Greater Atlanta Christian at 7 p.m. Friday.

Blessed Trinity boys 52, Buford 50

Down by six points at the end of the third quarter, the Titans outscored Buford 17-9 in the fourth quarter to rally late on Tuesday in Buford.

T.J. Shipes led the Wolves (6-13, 5-5 Region 6-AA) with 12 points. Ja’Kar Bridges added 10 points.

Buford visits Greater Atlanta Christian at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville boys 70, West Forsyth 37


The Red Elephants jumped out to a 30-12 lead at halftime and never looked back Tuesday in Cumming.

Juwon Jeffries recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Gainesville (12-7, 6-1 Region 7B-AAA). Blake Sims scored 18 points and George Manomano added 13 points.

Kris Drees led West Forsyth with 11 points.

Gainesville visits East Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Flowery Branch boys 91, East Hall 48

The Falcons shot 84 percent in the first half and were 19-for-21 from the free throw line in a dominant subregion win Tuesday in Flowery Branch.

Two Flowery Branch (11-9, 5-2 Region 7B-AAA) scorers set career highs, led by Brian Whelchel’s 25 points and Zach Barrett’s 18 points. Josh Barrett also scored in double figures, with 16.

Kymmon Woods led East Hall (9-12, 2-6) with 17 points.

Flowery Branch visits West Hall at 8:30 p.m. Friday. East Hall plays host to Gainesville at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

North Hall boys 63, Creekview 46

A 27-point second quarter shifted the momentum to the Trojans as they outscored Creekview the rest of the game Tuesday at North Hall High.

Ethan Satterfield and Robby Hill each scored 11 points for North Hall (15-6, 9-0 Region 7A-AAA).

North Hall visits Gilmer at 8;30 p.m. Friday.

Creekview girls 48, North Hall 41

McKenna Rushton led the Lady Trojans with 10 points on Tuesday at North Hall High.

North Hall (8-14, 2-6 Region 7A-AAA) visits Gilmer at 7 p.m. Friday.

Pickens boys 64, Chestatee 62

The Dragons outscored Chestatee 23-17 in the fourth quarter to rally for a win Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Branden Jovaag led the War Eagles (9-12, 4-5 Region 7A-AAA) with 21 points. Branden Smith scored 19 points and Lamar Brooks added 11 points.

Chestatee plays host to Creekview at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Pickens girls 44, Chestatee 43

The Lady War Eagles’ five-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday at Chestatee High.

Peyton Robertson led Chestatee (13-8, 7-2 Region 7A-AAA) with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Chestatee plays host to Creekiew at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy boys 66, Commerce 45

Tyler Ward scored 20 points for the Lions on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Jordan Chastain and Haughton Carswell also scored in double figures for Lakeviwew (15-7, 11-2 Region 8-A), with 10 points each.

Cameron Billings led Commerce with 14 points.

Lakeview visits Social Circle at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Commerce plays host to Athens Academy at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Lakeview Academy girls 45, Commerce 18

Brittany Moore scored 15 points, Maddie Haymore scored 12 and Louisa Jacobs added 10 as the Lady Lions increased their winning streak to five games Tuesday in Gainesville.

Shekia Moon scored eight points for Commerce.

Lakeview (14-4, 12-1 Region 8-A) visits Social Circle at 7 p.m. Friday. Commerce (6-12, 5-6 Region 8-A) plays host to Athens Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.

Riverside Military 60, Union County 42

Brandon McKinney scored 22 points and Steven Frady added 11 points as the Eagles stayed unbeaten in subregion play Tuesday in Blairsville.

Riverside (8-6, 6-0 Region 8A-AA) plays host to Fannin County at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Lumpkin County boys 62, Gilmer 19

The Indians outscored Gilmer 20-2 in the first quarter and cruised to a subregion win Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Devin Dunson led 11 different Lumpkin County (12-8, 7-3 Region 7A-AAA) scorers with 12 points.

Lumpkin County plays host to White County at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Gilmer girls 77, Lumpkin County 53

Ashley Brown recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Indians on Tuesday in Dahlonega.

Cara Malone also scored 14 points for Lumpkin County (3-18, 1-9 Region 7A-AAA)

Lumpkin County plays host to White County at 7 p.m. Friday.

Jefferson boys 47, Dawson County 36

Darius Minor scored 15 points in the Dragons’ ninth-straight win Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jacob Evans led Dawson County with 17 points.

Jefferson (18-3) visits Oglethorpe County at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Dawson County plays to Union County at 8 p.m. Friday.

Jefferson girls 56, Dawson County 39

Marcayla Hester scored 12 points and Callie Holloway added 10 points as the Lady Dragons earned their fifth win in six games Tuesday in Jefferson.

Jessi Phillips led Dawson County with 20 points.

Jefferson (8-13) visits Oglethorpe County at 7 p.m. Friday. Dawson County (2-14) plays host to Union County at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Hall sweeps home meet


The Trojans defeated Dawson County 49-21 and Winder-Barrow 43-25 in a tri-meet Tuesday at North Hall High.

Matt Joy (103 pounds), Colby McClain (215), Stephen Flanagan (285), Nick Quinn (135) and Cameron Howell (150) each had two wins for North Hall.

North Hall will participate in the Area 7-AAA Traditionals at 5 p.m. Friday at Creekview High.
