The Buford girls golf team won the Region 8-AAAA tournament at Mossy Creek Golf Course on Thursday.

Breezy Walton shot an 83 and Hope Mumme finished with an 85. Buford shot 257 as a team.

Buford will begin play in the state tournament on Monday.

Soccer

FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 4, WINDER-BARROW 0: Mara Wheat, Caroline Wysocki, Rachel Cohn and Morgan

Wadsworth each scored a goal, and Wysocki added an assist on Thursday.

Flowery Branch hosts West Hall 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lacrosse

DULUTH BOYS 8, GAINESVILLE 7 (OT): Gainesville’s Bill Hood scored four goals on Thursday.

Luke Snelling, John Wagner and Jack Brand each scored a goal. Goalkeeper Sam Terray had 22 saves.

Gainesville visits Lakeside (DeKalb) 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Baseball

COMMERCE 5, LAKEVIEW ACADEMY 0: Lakeview’s Logan Barwick went 2 for 4 with a double on Thursday.

Brandon Ragone, Peyton Solinsky and Rett Kinsey each had a hit. Lakeview pitcher Rob Hamby threw a complete game allowing two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts.

Lakeview Academy hosts Prince Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for Senior Night.
