Liz Fischer scored both goals as the Gainesville High girls soccer team won 2-0 at Loganville on Thursday night to secure the Region 8-AAAAA title, its first region championship in three years. Margaret Carpenter and Breana Fair had the assists on Fischer’s goals.

The Lady Red Elephants improved to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in region play.

Golf

JOHNSON GIRLS 138, BUFORD 144: Jenny Barrett fired a 43 as the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Wolves on Thursday to remain undefeated.

Kristin Waters shot 47, Madison Stewart had 48 and Emory Burkhead tallied a 56 for Johnson.

Baseball

CHESTATEE 8, WHITE COUNTY 7: Brian Crawford had three hits as the War Eagles scored four runs in the seventh inning to beat White County on Wednesday night. Sean Irick tallied a pair of doubles and two RBIs, Mikey Petraroi contributed a double and a single, and Joe Sutton and Caleb Jameson each added two hits for Chestatee. Peyton Rider had a two-run double.

Caleb Jameson allowed two runs in six innings in a no-decision, while Eric George earned the pitching win in relief.

Tennis

NORTH HALL GIRLS 3, NORTH OCONEE 2: Tricia Dial won a singles match for the Lady Trojans in a match that began in March and was completed Thursday at North Oconee after rain postponed the end of the match.

The Hannah Gibson/Kaitlyn Smith and Courtney Barnes/Karleigh Dills pairings prevailed in doubles for North Hall (7-1 Region 8-AAAA), which will be the No. 2 seed in the Region 8-AAAA tournament set for April 14-15.

NORTH OCONEE BOYS 3, NORTH HALL 2: Jackson Davis scored a singles win for the Trojans on Thursday.

The Matt Booth/Paxton Gillespie pairing picked up a doubles victory for North Hall (9-4, 7-1), which is the No. 2 seed for the Region 8-AAAA tournament that starts April 14.

FLOWERY BRANCH 5, JOHNS CREEK 0: Nicole Morris, Olivia Correa and Peyton Brick secured singles wins Wednesday for the Lady Falcons.

The doubles pairings of Brooke Kane/Breanna Benton and Kaia Clark/Kylie McGuire added doubles victories for Flowery Branch, which improved to 9-4 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Lacrosse

GAINESVILLE BOYS 9, MEADOWCREEK 1: John Wagner scored five goals and Bill Hood added four as the Red Elephants (5-6-1) won their season finale on Thursday at City Park and tied the program’s single-season record for wins. Wagner and Hood also recorded assists, along with Jack Brand, Dre Rias, Will Gaydon and Charlie Simpson. Gainesville goalie Sam Terray recorded eight saves.
