Madeline McCarthy scored a pair of goals for Flowery Branch’s girls soccer team in a 2-1 home win against Loganville on Thursday.
Mara Wheat and Aneesa Jones recorded the assists for the Lady Falcons (7-7-2), which host Clarke Central at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Flowery Branch.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 0, LOGANVILLE 0 (6-5, PKs): The Flowery Branch boys soccer team defeated Loganville on sudden death penalty kicks Thursday night at Falcon Field, after both teams played to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtime periods. Each team’s first five players hit their penalty kicks, resulting in sudden death.
Elias Araya then connected on Flowery Branch’s sixth straight kick, and Falcons goalkeeper Cade Minton stopped Loganville’s ensuing attempt to secure the victory. Chewy Alvardo also contributed to the shutout in the net for the Falcons (4-10-1, 4-3 Region 8-AAAAA). Flowery Branch hosts Clarke Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the final home game of the season.

BUFORD 4, WHITE COUNTY 0: Nick Wilhite and Griffin Jolliff hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning to fuel the Buford offense on Thursday.
Caleb Moore doubled and scored in the fourth innings for the Wolves (21-2, 13-0 Region 8-AAAA), and Jake Higginbotham struck out 12 to earn the win on the mound.
