A fundraiser and social media campaign has been started for Banks County High senior and basketball standout Kahmal Wiley, who recently required surgery to amputate both his legs above the knee as a result of an April 15 car crash.

All contributions will go toward medical expenses for Wiley, a first team All-State selection by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Dubbed "The Kahmal Challenge," the fundraiser asks donors to post a photo on their own Facebook wall and in the comments section of the original post of themselves making their donation. The social media campaign also urges donors to share the original post with the hashtag #thekahmalchallenge and tag their friends to help spread the word.

Contributions — which are encouraged to be made in increments of 34, Wiley's basketball number — can be submitted to the Kahmal Wiley Benefit Account at Habersham Federal Credit Union in Homer. Donations can be made in person or via mail.

You can also contribute to a gofundme account created for Wiley and his family.
