Area roundup: Lady Wolves rout Grayson

Blanche Alverson led the Buford High girls basketball team with 17 points en route to a 62-42 win over Class AAAAA Grayson on Friday night in Buford.

Michelle Godwin scored 16 points for the Lady Wolves (5-1, 4-0 Region 6-AA), and Jocelyn Danley added 14.

Buford took control of the game early with a 19-0 lead at the end of the first period, and proceeded to extend its lead to 33-11 going into halftime.

Buford plays host to Gainesville at 7 p.m. next Friday in Gwinnett County.

Grayson 78

Jeramie Moore led four players in double figures with 25 points in Buford’s win Friday night in Buford.

The Wolves (2-3) scored 49 points in the last two quarters to put the game out of reach for Grayson.

Bo Freer was the second leading scorer for the Wolves with 21 and Zac Lynn and Jordan Williams each pitched in 12 points.

Buford next plays host to Gainesville at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Hart County 39

MiMi DuBose scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Lady Dragons (6-2, 2-0 Region 8-A) on Friday night in Jefferson.

Brittney Crews scored 10 points for Jefferson, and Kris Reynolds added 10.

Jefferson faces Oglethorpe County in the Oconnee County Christmas Tournament on Dec. 27 in Watkinsville.

Darius Minor led the Dragons (3-5) with 24 points and Demetri Robinson scored nine points on Friday night in Jefferson.

The Patriots jumped to a 19-6 lead after the first quarter to maintained the advantage throughout their victory on Friday night in Jefferson.

Jackson County was led by freshman Ashley Skelton and Breanna Drew with nine points each.

The Lady Panthers host to East Jackson at 4 p.m. today.
