High school scoreboard: Chestatee volleyball team sweeps tri-match

The Chestatee volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Thursday night, taking down Rabun County 25-14, 25-20 and Stephens County 25-18, 25-16. 

Lindsey Bornhorst and Chloe Riley each produced six kills in the first game of the night, while Logan Wiggins contributed 10 kills in the nightcap. 

FLOWERY BRANCH SPLITS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Falcons beat Johnson 25-13, 25-15, before falling to North Forsyth 25-12, 25-11. 

Flowery Branch was led by sophomore Bri Hall in the win, as she contributed four kills, an ace and a block. 

The Lady Falcons travel to Grayson Saturday for a tournament.

GAINESVILLE SWEEPS TRI-MATCH: The Lady Red Elephants (17-4, 0-2 Region 8-6A) took down Tallulah Falls 25-15, 25-17 and Lumpkin County 25-13, 25-14 in a tri-match in Gainesville Thursday evening. 

Gainesville returns to region action next Tuesday for a tri-match with Dacula and Lanier in Sugar Hill.

WEST HALL TAKES DOWN CHEROKEE BLUFF: The Lady Spartans (8-7) needed five sets to move past the Bears, but managed to battle back from a 2-0 deficit to win 24-26, 22-25, 26-24, 25-19, 15-10. Cassidy Klekot led the way with 19 blocks, 12 digs and eight kills, while Cadie Shirley added 22 kills, 11 digs and five aces. 

West Hall will begin region play on Tuesday against White County.

SOFTBALL

The East Hall softball team defeated Dawson County 6-1 Thursday night behind a complete game in the circle from Macy Banks.

Banks allowed just three hits over seven innings, striking 14. Offensively, the Lady Vikings got a home run from Abigail Brown in the fifth inning. Brown, Banks and Carley Cox all had multiple hits on the day.
