High school baseball: Lakeview Academy earns Region 8-A championship with win over Hebron Christian Academy

The Lakeview Academy baseball team claimed a 7-3 decision over Hebron Christian Academy Thursday that earned the Lions a Region 8-A regular season championship as well as a first-round bye in the Class A private schools state tournament and a home series for the second round. They will host a second round playoff game on Thursday, May 2. 

Andrew Estes picked up the win on the mound for Lakeview Academy, striking out eight and allowing two runs over six innings. Offensively, Ian Echols went 2 for 4 on the night, knocking in a pair of RBIs on his two singles. Skyler Thellman was 3 for 4 at the plate, including a double. 

The Lions will be back in action Friday when they take on Athens Academy at 5:30 p.m.
