Moreno racks up another award

University of Georgia redshirt freshman tailback Knowshon Moreno has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week for the third time this season.

Moreno, a 5-11, 207-pound native of Belford, N.J., registered a career-high196 rushing yards on 26 carries for three touchdowns during No. 10 Georgia’s 44-34 win over Troy in Athens on Saturday. In addition to averaging 7.5 yards per carry, Moreno became only the 12th player in school history to have 1,000 yards rushing in a single season (he now has 1,003).

Moreno’s rushing total against the Trojans was the most for a Bulldog since Verron Haynes recorded 207 yards against Georgia Tech in 2001.
