The Gwinnett Braves fell to the Scranton/WB Yankees 12-3 Saturday at PNC Field. The loss eliminates the G-Braves from the Governors’ Cup Playoffs. The Yankees will go on to face the winner of the Louisville Bats and Durham Bulls series (2-2).

Third baseman Van Pope was 2-for-2 with one RBI to lead Gwinnett. Pope’s RBI came off a double hit to left field that plated Matt Young. Wes Timmons and Jason Heyward had the only other two Braves RBI – both coming in the fifth inning.

Third baseman Kevin Russo was 2-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Yankees.

For Gwinnett, LHP Jonny Venters was credited with the loss. He struck out two in 3.0 innings of work. Combined, G-Braves relievers struck out five and gave up seven earned runs.

RHP Zach McAllister earned the win pitching 5.1 innings. He stuck out three and allowed three earned runs off eight hits.
