Local golf: Roberts wins at Chicopee Woods

The DPG played matches on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week at the Chicopee Woods Golf Course. On Monday, James Roberts took first with a score of +6 and Dwight Miller was second with a +3. Dave Jetter placed third with a +2 and Terrence Dale was fourth with a +1.

Jerry Shell took first place on Wednesday with a +1 score. Jetter, Denis Jordan and Steve Knowles all shot an even round and finished in a tie for second.

On Friday, Jordan earned top honors with a +7, while Dale finished second with a +5.

DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight took place at Chicopee Woods Golf Course this week.

First place in the team event went to Greg Lee, Roger Stapp, Geoff Archibald and Lou Vega at 15-under par.

Bill Jorgenson, Gayle Gibson and Mark Black tied at 69 for first place in the individual event. Greg Lee and Jerry Horton each carded a 70 to tie for fourth while Tommy Calhoun and Walt Hope tied for sixth with a 71.

LUNA: The Luna’s Tuesday Golf group played at Reunion golf course this week.

First place went to the team of Stan Davidson Jr, Tommy Lowery, Jim Cornett and Larry Miller.

Second place went to the team of Steve Hill, Bud Chandler, Royce Deaton, and Doug Van. Third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Al Raynes, Tom Sexton and Don Smallwood.

Closest to the pin winners were Smallwood on No. 3, Davidson on No. 8, Van on No. 11, Chad Pierce on No. 14 and Deaton on No. 16.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best-ball, aggregated net-points game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. First place went to the team of Doug Van, Paul Payne, Bob Layne and Bud Clegg.

The team of A.J. Kiker, Rolf Legbandt, Eddie Johnson and Joe Kolesar tied with the team of Roy Lyle, Ed Pledger and John T. Smith for second. Fourth place was a tie between the team of Bob Smith, Leroy Harper, Don Gage and Clay Bartlett and the team of Jack Costello, Guy Long and Ron Bachman.

Closest to the pin winners were Marty Anderson on No. 3, Jim Hesser on No. 5, Ralph Prescott on No. 12 and Kolesar on No. 17.
