Local golf: Davidsons win at Chattahoochee

The Luna’s Tuesday Golf Group played at Chattahoochee Golf Course this week. First place went to the team of Nelson Wright, Stand Davidson Jr., Johnny Nix and Stan Davidson Sr. Steve Hill, Tommy Lowery, Al Raynes and Doug McMahan teamed up for second, while third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Larry Miller, Chad Pierce and Cleve Brown.

Closest to the pin winners were Wright on No. 3, Miller on No. 5, Lowery on No. 12 and Weschler on No. 17.

DPG: The DPG played matches Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

On Monday, Dwight Miller took first place with a score of +4, while Dave Jetter placed second with a +3. Steve Knowles’ +1 was good enough for third place.

Miller and Jerry Shell tied for first place in Wednesday’s individual match with an even score. Shell teamed with Doug Padgett to take first place in the team competition. Knowles and Horace Smallwood tied the team of Miller and Terrence Dale for second place.

Friday’s individual and team match were won by Bob Kidd and Billy Corban with a score of -1. Miller and Smallwood tied Denis Jordan and Shell for second place in the team event.

DOGFIGHT: The Wednesday Dogfight took place at Chicopee Woods Golf Course this week.

The team of Jim Arendt, Steve Ballard and Yoshi tied the team of Tommy Calhoun, Sonny Sykes and Terry MacFarland for first place at 14-under-par. In the individual competition, Jerry Horton took first place with a 66.

Nick Hart, Calhoun, Gayle Gibson and Yoshi each carded a 68 to tie for second. Sixth place went to Sykes with a 70.

CMGA: The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played two best ball, aggregated net-strokes game Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Don Sorrell, Nick Grillo, Al Pannell and Dave Gleason took first place with Jimmy Johnson, Don Gage, Guy Long and Leroy Harper placing second. Ed Pledger, Rolf Legbandt, Stu Virgin and Rick Reed teamed up for third place.

Fourth place was a tie between the team of A.J. Kiker, Gary Palmer, Bob Smith and J.B. Johnston and the team of John T. Smith, Jim Van Dyke, Gene Weschler and Jack Costello.

Closest to the pin winners were Gage on No. 3, Clay Bartlett on No. 5, Palmer on No. 12 and Weschler on No. 17.

CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a low gross, low net event Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

The first-flight winner for low gross was Ann Hollobaugh, while Sue Cronmiller took first place in low net.
Sandy Adams won low gross in the second flight with Judy Pannell winning low net.

Closest to the pin winner of the day was Paula Pilgrim on No. 3.
