Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club earns several top finishes on final day of National Team Trials

The Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club had seven competitors earn top finishes on the final day of the US Canoe & Kayak Flatwater National Team Trials on Sunday at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park.

Nik Miller spearheaded the team’s effort, placing first in the Para Men’s K1 (one-person kayak) 200-meter race with a time of 46.57 seconds. He also took second in the Senior Men’s K1 200-meter B race (45.73).

Stanton Collins won first in the Senior Men’s K1 200-meter with a time of 38.13 seconds, barely edging teammate and second-place finisher Aaron Mullican (38.41). First place in the Junior Men’s K1 200-meter A race went to Owen Farley-Klacik, who posted a time of 38.92 seconds.

Andrew Surles, meanwhile, completed the B race of that event in 44.75 seconds to come in first. Jackson Hickerson finished in second place (48.12) behind Surles.

Paige Farley-Klacik claimed first place in the Junior Women’s C1 (one-person canoe) 200-meter race. Farran Smith finished in 46.60 seconds to place first in the Junior Women’s K1 200-meter race, in which teammate Lisa Swenson grabbed third place (48.28).

Kaley Martin rounded out the LCKC’s big day with a first-place finish in the Senior Women’s C1 200-meter race, which she completed in 53.98 seconds.
