Gainesville's Brody Simmons one-shot back of lead at Rudolph Junior Golf Classic

Gainesville High’s Brody Simmons shot a first-round 76 for lone possession of second and trails the leader by a stroke after the first day of the Rudolph Junior Classic on Monday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

In a three-way tie for third place (76) is Red Elephants golfer Ryan Hogan. Leading after a 75 in the first round is Dalton’s Matthew Cleary.

In the 10-13 age group, Gainesville’s Sam Patterson fired an opening round 75 for first place, one shot ahead of Flowery Branch’s Ryan Davidson. In third place is David Hughes, from Dawsonville.

Final round play begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
