Young Harris College spotted Columbus State University the first 10 points of the game, but the Mountain Lions rallied for a 71-62 Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball victory Wednesday at the Lumpkin Center in Columbus.
The Mountain Lions (9-4, 3-3 PBC) return to action at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against No. 3-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken in Young Harris.
Shereese Williams, a Buford grad, scored a career-high 15 points for Young Harris and went 7 of 8 from the field in the game as the Mountain Lions finished 27 of 52, including 14 of 24 over the final 20 minutes. The Mountain Lions also hit 8 of 12 free throws down the stretch to hold the Cougars at bay.
Ladondra Johnson led the Mountain Lions with 22 points, while Breanna Gleeson continue her hot hand, scoring 13 points. Lauren Smith also tallied 10 points for the Mountain Lions while grabbing eight rebounds.
Asha Alexander finished in double figures for the Cougars with 10 points.
