North Georgia's Coan strikes 18 hitters out in win
Buford grad Dickie records win in Game 2 of doubleheader for Lady Saints

North Georgia College & State University pitcher Jessica Coan recorded 18 strikeouts in a 2-1 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Belmont Abbey on Wednesday in Dahlonega.

She finished the game allowing only one hit for Division II's second-ranked Lady Saints (11-1). At the plate, left fielder Rochelle Shuman finished with two hits and scored one of North Georgia's runs.

In Game 2, Buford graduate Melissa Dickie threw a complete game and allowed only one hit in a 4-0 win against Belmont Abbey.

The only hit Dickie allowed was with two outs in the seventh inning. Karlie Gillam led the Lady Saints with a run-scoring double and finished the game with a pair of hits. Katie Block added a solo home run for North Georgia.

The Lady Saints next face Saint Leo at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
