Lisk leads Piedmont baseball

Matt Lisk led the Piedmont College (11-3) by pitching eight strong innings, allowing no earned runs and just three hits while striking out six hitters in a 3-1 win against Guilford on Wednesday. Senior Ed Cook, fresh off receiving the Great South Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week award, came in for his fourth save of the season for Piedmont College.

Trailing 1-0 and with runners on the corners, senior Kyle Davis had a two-run triple and gave Piedmont the tying and go-ahead run. A wild pitch brought the left fielder to give Piedmont the 3-1 lead.

Basketball

TRUETT-MCCONNELL COLLEGE MEN 82, EMMANUEL COLLEGE 81: The Bears were led in scoring by Anthony Dorsey with 27 points, followed by Roderick Bombard with 17, and Berbard Nugent with 16. Dustin Jeffords who added 14 points and 12 rebounds on Wednesday.

Truett-McConnell has now accumulated three wins in three days and the NCCAA regional championship.

The Bears will play next week in the NCCAA National Tournament at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. This is the first time in program history as a four-year institution the Bears have qualified to attend a national tournament.
