Piedmont College men’s lacrosse recorded a 22-6 win against Oglethorpe University on Wednesday afternoon in Demorest. The Lions (4-3) took a nine-goal advantage into halftime, while allowing only two goals on 12 shots attempted.
Spencer Ortis led Piedmont with 11 goals, and Max Rowse, Steve Blanchard and Nick Leaf all finished with three goals. Leading in assists for the Lions were Ortis, Rowse and Zachary Sprague, who all had two assists on the afternoon.
The Lions return to action when they host Centre College at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
LADY SAINTS SPLIT WITH ARMSTRONG: The North Georgia College & State softball team had a 3-2 win and a 5-3 loss against Armstrong Atlantic State University in their second Peach Belt Classic doubleheader of the season.
Sarah Johnson had a two-run home run for the Lady Saints (28-6) and finished 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Jessica Coan threw another complete game and allowed just two earned runs with four strikeouts for the Lady Saints, and Katherine Martin finished 1 for 3 with a run scored.
Martin was the bright spot for North Georgia in game two, as her three-run home run was the only scoring the Lady Saints would have. Martin finished 1 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored for North Georgia.
After splitting their first two PBC series’ of the season, the Lady Saints take a week off before traveling to Georgia Southwestern on March 23 in Americus.
