Jeffrey Scott White was named the Brenau University volleyball head coach by the school’s athletic department Friday.

White fills the vacancy left by the departure in the middle of her fifth season of Meredith Franklin. The Golden Tigers were then led by tennis coach Andre Ferreira, who finished the 2011 season with a 3-12 record. Brenau’s 12-18 overall record was the best since an impressive 24-11 run in 2009.

As a high school coach in the late 90s, White took Chattahoochee High to two state semifinal appearances in Class AAAA, including a state runner-up finish in 2001, and also earned coach of the year honors.

After moving to Northview High School in Johns Creek, White won multiple Coach of the Year honors, leading the Titans team to the quarterfinals in the Class AAAAA tournament. After making it to the quarterfinals round in 2006, Northview repeated its 2005 state championship with back-to-back championships in 2007 and 2008.

Three of his Georgia players have won state Player of the Year honors, 17 were named to all-state rosters and 10 have gone on to play college volleyball.
