The North Georgia College & State baseball team broke its two-game losing streak on Friday evening, defeating No. 23 Columbus State 4-2 in Peach Belt Conference action in Dahlonega.
Freshman Jacob Beauchamp picked up his fourth win of the season for the Saints (17-17, 8-12 PBC) going 8 2/3 innings allowing just two runs on two hits and striking out five.
Reese Patten picked up his second save of the season for North Georgia, coming on with two runners on in the ninth and retiring a pinch hitter to seal the victory for the Saints.
Beauchamp continues to impress in his first season for the Saints as he has gone at least six innings in each of his last four starts. Beauchamp has gone 2-1 with 21 strikeouts and has allowed just 20 hits in 30 innings for North Georgia.
Matthew Black went 4 for 4 with three RBIs for the Saints and has had multi-hit games in each of the last three conference games.
North Georgia wraps up the weekend series against the Cougars with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. today.
