Brenau University’s volleyball team defeated Southern Wesleyan University 3-1 (25-16, 22-25, 25-23 25-21) on Thursday night in Central, SC.
Senior co-captain Karen Green had 29 kills, 14 digs, 13 receptions, 12 blocks and two assists to lead the Tigers (17-7, 3-5 Southern States Athletic Conference) to thier first ever win over the Warriors (6-17, 3-4 SSAC).
Brenau’s fellow co-captian Audra VanArsdale set a new school record with 50 assists, and had six digs, two aces, a kill and a block.
Meredith Hardin had 18 blocks and four kills, Kelsey Aley had nine blocks, eight kills and four digs, Courtney Frady had eight kills, four digs and four blocks and Alexis Arthur had 10 kills, four digs and four blocks.
Maida Smajic led the Tigers’ defense with 26 receptions and 22 digs. Kerry Abernathy had 24 receptions and Patricia Passos had seven receptions and seven digs.
The Golden Tigers travel to Erskine, SC on Saturday and will play three games against NCAA III competition.
