Flowery Branch – The Falcons today placed rookie wide receiver Kerry Meier on injured reserve as a result of a knee injury he suffered in Thursday night’s preseason game against the New England Patriots.

Meier, 6-3, 222 pounds, posted 226 receptions for 2,309 yards with 18 touchdowns while adding 417 rushing yards on 118 carries with six scores in 46 career games (38 starts) at the University of Kansas.

His 226 career receptions are a school record and ranks eighth in Big 12 Conference history. As a senior, Meier hauled in a school single-season record 102 catches for 985 yards and eight touchdowns. He also ranked second in the Big 12 and fourth in the nation in yards per catch (8.5 yards) and earned an All-Big 12 selection by the conference’s coaches and Associated Press for his performance.
