ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves are moving their advanced Class A minor league team from Myrtle Beach, S.C., to Lynchburg, Va., for the 2011 season.
The team says it has reached a four-year player development contract with the city of Lynchburg. The Carolina League team will be called the Lynchburg Hillcats. It will play at Lynchburg City Stadium, about 70 miles from the team's Rookie League team in Danville, Va.
Braves general manager Frank Wren said Thursday the proximity to Danville will be "ideal" for the Lynchburg team.
