Commerce defeated Jefferson for the first time in five meetings on Friday in Commerce, winning 22-7.

Jamal Browner had 20 carries for 160 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers.

Commerce took the lead in the first on a 12-yard run by Browner, but Jefferson was able to tie the game in the second quarter with a 10-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Bryant Shirreffs. The teams went into halftime tied, but Terrick Ramsey put the Tigers back on top with an 81-yard carry for the score. Browner went on to score again in the fourth on an 8-yard run, and the two-point conversion by quarterback Drew Whitfield put away the victory.

The Tigers had 398 yards of rushing offense, while holding Jefferson to 82 yards rushing and 131 yards passing.

Commerce travels to East Jackson next Friday in Commerce, and Jefferson faces Jackson County at home in Jefferson.
