I want to thank Coach Bruce Miller, his assistant coaches, staff and the fine young men of the 2009 Gainesville High School football team for a thrilling season. I hated to lose the championship game as much as anyone, and no amount of Monday morning quarterbacking is going to change the outcome. Coach Miller made the call and it was the right call, but for an inch or two either way, we may have had a different outcome.
No matter; what is done is done.
In my estimation, these young men are already champions. They gave us a fantastic season of football, brought the whole Gainesville community together, made us proud to call this place home, gave us bragging rights for a whole year, demonstrated class the whole season and made Gainesville a better place to live. What more could you ask for?
I am looking forward to seeing some of these men play college ball and others being successful members of the community, but I am really looking forward to next fall and another winning season. Thanks Coach Miller and all of you GHS boys for the best fall football I can remember!
Daniel Summer
