A car found on fire last month near the railroad tracks has led to an arson charge for a Gainesville woman.

A passerby going to work reported a 2006 Dodge Durango on fire at 5:44 a.m. June 16 near the railroad tracks at Georgia Avenue.

The car was reported stolen that same day.

Zekela Antionette Jenkins was charged with false report of a stolen vehicle and second-degree arson. She was booked June 28 in to the Hall County Jail and was later released on bond.

The Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the case, which is still ongoing.

Hall County Fire Services Capt. Zachary Brackett said the vehicle was a total loss.
