Two women struck in Atlanta Highway hit-and-run while helping driver fix flat tire

Two women helping their driver Sunday fix a flat tire on Atlanta Highway were struck by a car, according to authorities.

The hit-and-run happened between 1:20-1:38 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, on Atlanta Highway just south of Friendship Road.

The driver of a van stopped in the gore between the lanes of traffic to a fix a tire, and two women also got out to help.

“During that time, the two passengers were hit by a vehicle that was also traveling north on Atlanta Highway. The suspect driver did not stop,” Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth wrote in a news release.

The women were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, though their conditions were unknown.

After the hit-and-run, Booth said a black woman and a white man at the nearby QuikTrip helped the injured women.

Anyone with information on the incident, the hit-and-run vehicle or the two people that came to the victims’ aid is asked to call Sgt. John Morgan at 770-718-2383.
