The Local Agenda: Gainesville looks at its goals for 2013

Improving 4.6 miles of city roadway infrastructure, promoting recycling, managing airport safety, extending the life on aging vehicles and revitalizing the older section of Alta Vista Cemetery will all be goals for the city of Gainesville in the upcoming fiscal year. And that’s just one department. Gainesville’s Public Works Department is by far the city’s most diverse — with responsibilities in street maintenance and engineering, solid waste, vehicle services, operating the Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport and maintaining the city’s cemetery.
