A man was shot and killed Monday evening in the parking lot outside the Peppers Market off E.E. Butler Parkway in Gainesville. Adiren Lamont Thompson, 37, of Gainesville was shot in the midabdomen and was unresponsive when he was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center about 6 p.m., Cpl. Joe Britte, with the Gainesville Police Department, said. Thompson was pronounced dead about an hour later.
