Forecast calls for strong chance of rain through Friday night

Look for a couple of wet days ahead heading into the weekend. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today after brief heavy rains hit Wednesday night. Nearly a half-inch of rain fell in Gainesville during the evening hours, as recorded by the NWS automated station at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport.
