Fundraising efforts for the Smithgall Woodland Garden are nearing completion and are likely to wrap up in time for the projected summer groundbreaking. The garden, which will sit on a 168-acre tract off Cleveland Highway, will be a satellite of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. “We’re confident in our fundraising efforts and we’re close to reaching that $21 million goal so that we can break ground this year,” said Mildred Fockele, the organization’s horticulture director.
