First-grader Brently Allen adds his name to a construction beam Thursday morning at Centennial Arts Academy. The beam will be used in construction of the school's new addition, which is already underway.

Students gathered to sign beams for the two-story Centennial Arts Academy addition on Thursday morning.

The school’s addition, which is under construction, will cost $4.9 million and have 30 classrooms. It will allow the school to move students out of modular classrooms that are about 15 years old.

The Centennial construction is being paid for with Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax IV money.
