The Hall County Board of Education voted Monday night to approve the resignation of Zachary Swansey, a former boys basketball coach who has been charged with sexual assault to a student.

Swansey was charged after an investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. West Hall High School administrators made a complaint to the sheriff May 9 after the school’s investigation about an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student.

A press release from the sheriff’s office stated that investigators learned that Swansey, 27, had engaged in a consensual, sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl at the school.

The school has since announced that Bobby Pless will be the new varsity boys basketball head coach.
