Kids events and live music planned as part of the fifth annual Downtown Gainesville Gran Prix Criterium have been canceled due to the forecast of rain.

Joe Burnett, executive director of Mainstreet Gainesville, which was helping to sponsor the event, said the forecast on Wednesday afternoon was enough to cancel the activities, originally planned to start at 3 p.m. on the downtown Gainesville Square. However, Saturday night's Gainesville Criterium bike race is still set to start at 5:30 p.m. around the square.

The events scheduled as part of the race will be rescheduled for July 18, when another bike race is planned.

Saturday's main event, the pro/am race, starts at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
