A probable cause hearing is set for later this month after a Gainesville man made his first appearance Tuesday in Hall County Magistrate Court on murder charges. Joseph Scott Williams, 32, is accused of shooting to death Adiren Lamont Thompson, 37, of Gainesville on Monday evening in the parking lot outside the Peppers Market on Atlanta Street off E.E. Butler Parkway in Gainesville. Williams is also charged with possession of a gun during the commission of a crime and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.
