A burglary suspect earlier this month forced his way into a Gainesville Dairy Queen and took two cakes from the freezer, police said.

Gainesville Police released information Monday regarding an alleged ice cream thief from a May 2 incident at the Green Street Dairy Queen.

Surveillance footage shows a Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible pull in to the parking lot around 4:30 a.m., where a passenger gets out of the car.

“The passenger that got out goes to the back door and begins to try to force the door open,” investigator Daniel Adames said in a video, adding it was either by kicking or pushing.

The suspect, who is described as a “possible juvenile, possibly Hispanic,” enters the store wearing khaki shorts, a black shirt and a black hat. He is then seen moving through the store to the freezers.

“He ends up selecting a 10-inch cake, an 8-inch cake and a box of Buster bars,” according to the police video, which had an estimated $50 value.

The suspect is seen exiting the way he entered the store and leaving northbound on Green Street in the convertible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Adames at 770-534-5254.
