A Gainesville woman is in critical condition in the intensive care unit after being struck by a car Tuesday in Gainesville, according to authorities.

Georgia State Patrol and Gainesville authorities responded Tuesday afternoon to Queen City Parkway.

Linda Holmes, 74, of Lilburn, was stopped at a stop sign on Banks Street at Queen City Parkway in a Kia Optima.

“As (the Kia) conducted the left turn onto (Queen City Parkway), there was a pedestrian who was improperly in the roadway,” according to state patrol.

Pamesha Stroud, 23, of Gainesville, was standing in the center turn lane on Queen City Parkway and struck by the Kia.

“After impact, the pedestrian was propelled from (the Kia) onto the roadway,” according to state patrol.

Witnesses told authorities Holmes’ car entered the lanes properly and Stroud “was in the middle of the roadway, not in a designated crosswalk,” according to state patrol.

Holmes was not injured and will not be charged.
