A new subdivision will be coming to Gainesville after the Hall County Board of Commissioners approved the development Thursday, Aug. 9.
Commissioners had also been scheduled to vote on a subdivision on Price Road in Gainesville, but that proposal was tabled until Sept. 13 at the request of the applicant, builder DR Horton.
Subdivision on Cool Springs Road
A 99-lot subdivision will be coming to Cool Springs Road near its intersection with Chestatee Road. The property, which is near the Marina Bay development, is about 43 acres, and four acres will be incorporated into Marina Bay.
The property is owned by Wendell Starke of Chavala, Inc.
Subdivision on Price Road
Commissioners tabled the Riverbrook Village subdivision on Price Road near the intersection with Thompson Bridge Road. The neighborhood, which would be built by DR Horton, would have 136 homes on an approximately 48-acre lot. The homes would cost about $210,000 to $230,000.
In 2013, commissioners approved the property as a mixed-use commercial and residential development, but the lot has now been vacant for several years. The homes in this request would replace the proposed commercial portion of the development.
Up to 220 apartments have already been approved for the development, but those apartments were not part of the request tabled Thursday, and DR Horton is not involved with that portion of the property.
Commissioners will now vote on the proposal on Sept. 13.
