It may have a ring of finality to it, but a trial in Washington over water sharing between Georgia and Florida may not mean the end of the decadeslong “water wars.” “The feeling is that it’s a pivotal moment, to put this particular issue to rest,” said Wilton Rooks, a Lake Lanier Association board member and longtime observer of the dispute between Georgia, Florida and Alabama. However, “there are some (other) issues that relate to managing the water and those are heavily influenced by the water control manual,” he said.
