Both directions of Interstate 985 were plagued by three wrecks this morning, all attributed to drivers following too closely, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The left northbound lane of I-985 was also closed, contributing to the slowdown, as a Department of Transportation maintenance crew worked on the roadway’s shoulder.

No serious injuries were reported in the wrecks, which occurred between mile markers 13 and 14 in the northbound lanes, though one wreck involved six cars and minor injuries.

“There was one patient that possibly had a broken leg,” said Capt. Zachary Brackett, Hall County Fire Services spokesman. “That's the only injury we are aware of.”
