Hall County Farm Bureau won multiple state awards during the 80th annual Georgia Farm Bureau convention Dec. 3-5 on Jekyll Island, then brought home a national award at the Jan. 5-9 convention in Nashville, Tenn.
The national honor was a County Activities of Excellence Award. Hall was one of 24 bureaus nationally to secure the honor and be able to display exhibits about their innovative projects in a trade show at the convention. The group also received a $2,250 prize.
HCFB received the GFB McKemie Award in the organization’s large membership division. The McKemie Award is the highest honor awarded to a county Farm Bureau in recognition of its efforts to promote agriculture in its local community.
HCFB also received the GFB Outstanding Young Farmer Committee Award, which recognizes the work farmers between ages 18 and 35 do in their communities to promote agriculture. The HCFB Young Farmer Committee, chaired by Caroline Lewallen, was recognized for planning and hosting an agriculture transportation and safety seminar that drew more than 100 attendees.
