A strong line of showers and thunderstorms rolled through Northeast Georgia overnight, dumping almost an inch of rain at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, according to the National Weather Service Web site.

The heaviest rainfall came between 1 and 2 a.m., when more than three-quarters of an inch of rain fell. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Hall County during this storm.

The rainfall continues to be good news for Lake Lanier, which continues to slowly rise. At 11 a.m. today, the lake was at 1,063.26 feet. Full pool is 1,071.

The area should get a slight reprieve from the rain today. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high of 66. Expect windy conditions, though, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

A slight chance of rain returns to the forecast tonight, Tuesday and Tuesday night. The rest of the week should be nice, with temperatures Friday near 80 degrees.
