A hit-and-run collision between a vehicle and motorcycle Saturday in South Hall led to the motorcycle rider losing his right leg.

The wreck occurred on Mundy Mill Road at its intersection with Old Oakwood Road.

Sgt. Tal Parden of the Oakwood Police Department said the motorcyclist, now identified as 34-year-old Dennis Keith Roberts, of Monroe, was traveling eastbound on Mundy Mill Road when the driver of an unidentified black vehicle failed to yield. The vehicle turned onto Old Oakwood Road, striking the motorcyclist and knocking him off the bike. The driver then fled down Old Oakwood Road without stopping.

According to Parden, Roberts lost his right leg due to the injuries sustained in the crash, but Roberts is expected to make a full recovery.

Police describe the vehicle as a dark passenger car, possibly black, with damage to its front right side and missing its right tail light. Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact Capt. Rick Whaley of the Oakwood Police Department at 770-536-8812.
