Both local school boards will be meeting Monday night, one discussing drug screening and the other talking about adding an athletic director position.
A Hall County schools committee looking at expanding mandatory drug screening beyond high school athletics is set to report Monday to the Hall County Board of Education.
The panel has looked at requiring the random tests for middle school athletics and students in extracurricular programs, such as band.
Also being considered is requiring students who drive a car to school to agree to the testing.
In other business at Monday's monthly work session, the county school board plans to look at 2008-09 high school courses and talk about a board retreat.
The meeting is set to start at 5:30 p.m. Monday and take place in the district's central office at 711 Green St. The county school board's Web site is www.hallco.org.
The Gainesville City Board of Education will discuss a description for the position of "community activity and athletic program director" in Gainesville city schools. Currently, the system has an athletic director at Gainesville High School, Wayne Vickery, but not someone in a similar districtwide post.
Hall County system has a director of community relations and athletics, Gordon Higgins.
The city school board is set to begin its meeting at 5 p.m. Monday at the system's central office at 508 Oak St.
Also on the agenda: discussion of promotion and retention policies, Georgia School Boards Association's priorities for the legislative session starting in January and the board's annual retreat.
