Oakwood Police are searching for a vehicle they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday afternoon that left a man in the intensive care unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a statement from the Oakwood Police Department. The statement said a white four-door passenger car was crossing over the northbound lane of Thurmond Tanner Parkway from a private driveway behind Steak ‘n Shake and struck the victim’s vehicle, which was in the southbound lane.

The driver of the first vehicle fled the scene. Neither he nor the vehicle have been identified, according to Sgt. Danny Sridej of the Oakwood Police Department.

Sridej said the injured driver was recuperating from surgery at the hospital.

The suspect’s vehicle will likely have moderate damage to the right front fender and be missing a front hubcap, according to the statement.

Anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle is asked to contact Oakwood Police at 770-534-2364 or Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta at crimestoppersatlanta.org/tip or call 404-577-8477.
