A 19-year-old Lula woman died and two others were injured Wednesday night in a collision on Old Cornelia Highway, according to the state patrol.
Rachel Reece, 19, of Lula died after she turned left onto Old Cornelia Highway from Mud Creek Road, pulling her Nissan Sentra into the path of a southbound vehicle, according to Georgia State Patrol Operator Amber Sorrells.
Reece’s vehicle was struck by a Buick Century driven by 40-year-old Timmy Mills shortly after 8:30 p.m., Wednesday. Following the collision, a 20-year-old male passenger in Reece’s vehicle was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries.
Mills, who reportedly had visible injuries, was charged with driving under the influence and inoperable headlights, Sorrells said.
Reece was listed on a preliminary report as the driver at fault in the collision, Sorrells said. The state patrol’s collision reconstruction team is still investigating the accident.
