Ken Davis knew the impeccable character of Jim Lofton from the first time the two crossed paths in 1972. Lofton was the football coach at Jefferson High and Davis, a young Lumpkin County High coach, went to the well-respected coach before their head-to-head matchup. Davis said he didn’t have the resources to scout Lofton’s squad.
