EATONTON — Police have found the body of a missing 87-year-old Georgia woman whose husband was discovered killed and decapitated in the couple's home.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said Friday that the body of Shirley Dermond was found in Lake Oconee. Further details were not immediately available.

Her husband, 88-year-old Russell Dermond, was found decapitated May 6 at the couple's home in their exclusive gated community on the lake.

The county medical examiner previously said it appeared that Russell Dermond was already dead when his head was cut off his body. Police said the couple's lakefront home showed no signs of a struggle or forced entry. No ransom note was left behind.
