Authorities said a 62-year-old man has allegedly distributed 2 pounds of illegal narcotics a week in Hall County and three neighboring counties.

Franklin Douglas Edwards was the subject of a two-month investigation by the North Georgia Regional Drug Enforcement Office. He was arrested Tuesday night and charged with trafficking methamphetamine and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The agency was aided by the Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad and the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Squad.

A search warrant was executed at a Riverbend Circle address in Gainesville. Agents seized 8 pounds of “high grade marijuana” and 780 grams of methamphetamine, in addition to $16,000 in cash.

The estimated street value of the drugs is $120,000.

“The investigation revealed Edwards distributed approximately 2 pounds of illegal narcotics a week in Hall, Lumpkin, White, and Habersham Counties,” according to the news release.
