A Gainesville man died after being ejected from a truck on a West Hall roadway, authorities said.

Darrin Dwayne Stroud, 34, died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Thursday after suffering injuries in a crash Wednesday, according to his obituary.

Stroud was driving a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck around 7:14 p.m. Wednesday on Will Wallace Road. He was negotiating a curve while traveling northbound, said Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Nick Jenkins.

“(The truck) traveled onto the east shoulder and struck a mailbox and flower bed with its front,” Jenkins wrote in an email. “After impact (the truck) traveled across a private drive and struck a fence with its right front.”

The second impact caused the truck to rotate and overturn multiple times. Stroud was ejected, and the truck came to rest upright, Jenkins said.

“The driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash,” Jenkins said.
